Image Shift Privacy Policy

Last Updated: July 2026

Implementation verified: 2026-07-22. The Android release manifest has no Internet or broad storage permission. Backup and device transfer are disabled. Shared-input private cache copies are deleted after conversion or selection clearing; incomplete conversion files are deleted after completion, failure, or cancellation. App-managed completed outputs survive starting another conversion and remain until the user explicitly deletes them, clears generated files, clears app data, or uninstalls Image Shift. Exported user files remain until the user deletes them.

Image Shift is designed to convert and compress user-selected images while respecting user privacy.

Image Shift is a Vythin product.

Summary

Image Shift is designed around these principles:

Images, Conversion, and Compression

Images selected by the user are processed locally on the user’s device.

Image Shift does not upload selected images or converted outputs to Vythin servers.

Image Shift does not use selected images or converted outputs to train artificial-intelligence models.

Image Shift does not sell, rent, or share image contents for advertising or profiling.

The original image is not modified by default. Converted results are created as separate files.

Compressed results are also separate files. PNG and WebP compression use the available lossless encoders; JPEG recompression is lossy. Compression is not guaranteed to reduce every file, and a larger or unchanged result is reported honestly.

File and Photo Access

Image Shift uses Android’s system photo picker, file picker, content-sharing mechanisms, or supported media-storage APIs to access images explicitly selected by the user and to save converted results.

The app is designed to avoid unrestricted access to the user’s complete photo library or file system.

Depending on the Android version, file provider, and user action, the app may receive temporary or persistent access to selected files or output locations.

The user can revoke access through Android settings, the source provider, or by removing the source file.

Local Application Data

Image Shift may store limited application data locally on the device, including:

Image Shift does not intentionally store complete source images in its application database.

Completed conversion history is not retained by default.

Temporary data is removed when no longer needed, subject to normal Android storage and process behavior. Completed app-managed outputs are not temporary data.

Converted Files

Converted files are saved only after a user initiates conversion.

Results are first committed to app-private local storage. The user may then choose an individual destination through Android's Storage Access Framework, open it through a scoped FileProvider grant, or share it through the Android share sheet.

Files saved outside private app storage remain on the device until the user deletes them.

Clearing Image Shift application data does not necessarily delete converted files that were saved to a shared or user-selected location.

Metadata

Source images may contain metadata, including:

Image Shift removes EXIF, text metadata, ICC profile data, and GPS by default after applying visual orientation.

Version 1 does not offer metadata preservation. GPS location metadata is not preserved.

Image Shift does not require device location permission to inspect metadata already contained in a user-selected file.

Image-to-PDF

When the user creates a PDF from images, Image Shift processes the selected images locally and writes the generated PDF to the selected destination.

The generated PDF is not uploaded to Vythin.

The original images are not deleted or modified.

No Accounts

Image Shift does not require:

No Advertising

Image Shift does not contain:

No Analytics or Tracking

Image Shift does not collect:

The initial version is designed without a remote crash-reporting or diagnostics service.

No Artificial-Intelligence Processing

Image Shift is a format-conversion utility, not an AI image service.

Image Shift does not:

Image-codec libraries may use optimized computational techniques, but ordinary local encoding and decoding is not presented as AI functionality.

No Cloud Storage

Image Shift does not provide Vythin cloud storage or cloud synchronization.

Selected images, converted outputs, preferences, and temporary job data are not uploaded to Vythin servers.

Selecting an image from a third-party cloud-storage or photo provider may cause that provider’s own application or service to download the selected file. That activity is controlled by the provider and is governed by the provider’s privacy policy, not by Vythin.

Sharing a converted file through another application is explicitly initiated by the user and is governed by the receiving application’s privacy practices.

Offline Operation

Image Shift is designed to perform its core conversion functions without an internet connection after installation.

The operating system or app store may independently use a network connection for installation, updates, license checks, security services, or store functionality. Those activities are controlled by the relevant platform provider.

Android Backup and Device Transfer

Image Shift disables Android automatic cloud backup and Android 12+ device-transfer extraction for app-managed preferences, temporary conversion state, thumbnails, caches, and private temporary outputs unless a later reviewed implementation explicitly changes this behavior.

This restriction does not prevent users or other applications from backing up source images or converted files stored outside Image Shift’s private application storage.

This is not an encryption claim.

Local Deletion

Users can remove local Image Shift data by:

Clearing Image Shift app data does not delete original user images.

Converted files saved to shared storage or a user-selected destination may remain after app data is cleared or the application is uninstalled.

Uninstalling the app removes app-managed private data according to Android system behavior.

Permissions

Image Shift requests only permissions required for application functionality.

The intended implementation uses Android’s system photo picker, Storage Access Framework, and scoped media-storage APIs instead of broad storage access.

Image Shift does not require access to:

Camera access is not required for the initial version because the application converts existing images rather than capturing new ones.

If permissions change in a future version, this policy and applicable app-store disclosures must be updated.

Data Sharing

Vythin does not receive source images, converted images, generated PDFs, conversion settings, or conversion history from Image Shift and therefore does not sell or share that data.

The user may explicitly save, open, or share converted output through another application or storage provider. That action is initiated by the user and is governed by the destination’s privacy practices.

Third-Party Libraries

Image Shift may include local software libraries for decoding, resizing, encoding, metadata handling, PDF creation, file selection, or interface functionality.

Libraries included in the released build must be reviewed to confirm that they do not independently upload images, collect analytics, display advertising, or perform undisclosed tracking.

Open-source license notices, where required, should be available in the application or accompanying documentation.

Children’s Privacy

Image Shift is a general-purpose utility and is not designed to collect personal information from children.

Because the app has no accounts, advertising, analytics, or Vythin cloud upload, Vythin does not knowingly collect children’s image content through Image Shift.

Security

Local processing reduces exposure to network-based image transfers, but no software or device can guarantee absolute security.

Device security, file-provider security, operating-system behavior, backups performed by other applications, embedded metadata in source or converted files, and user sharing choices remain outside Vythin’s control.

Image Shift does not claim that images, preferences, or temporary files are encrypted by the application unless a future release explicitly implements and documents application-level encryption.

Website

The public Vythin website may contain static information about Image Shift and other Vythin products.

Any website newsletter, contact, anti-abuse, hosting, or email-provider behavior is governed by the Vythin website privacy policy and is separate from local image conversion inside Image Shift.

Changes

Future versions may update this policy when application functionality, format support, platform requirements, or legal obligations change.

The effective policy published with the released application must match the behavior of that application version.

Target compression, previews, metadata, and folders

Target-size compression and privacy cleaning run entirely on your device. A preview uses a bounded temporary file that is deleted when replaced or when the preview lifecycle ends; it is not treated as a completed output.

Metadata inspection reports detected categories locally. GPS is shown as present or absent by default; Image Shift does not request location permission, open a map, upload coordinates, or log metadata contents. A privacy-clean action creates a separate validated copy and never changes the source. For JPEG, cleaning currently requires re-encoding and minor visual changes may occur. The app says "Supported metadata removed" rather than claiming every possible metadata block was removed.

If you choose and remember an output folder, Image Shift stores only the Android content tree URI plus minimal provider/folder display and capability information. It uses the access you granted through Android's Storage Access Framework, checks that access when restored, and clears its saved reference if access is revoked. No raw filesystem path or broad storage permission is used. Durable generated outputs remain private app data until you open, share, export, or delete them.
